Part of your treatment care plan requires you and your partner to meet and have at least one session with one of our qualified and experienced IVF counsellors.
Counselling is mandatory for all clients undertaking IVF and/or donor treatments.
In Victoria all infertility services are regulated by the Infertility Treatment Authority (ITA). Mandatory counselling is a requirement of the 'Infertility Treatment Act'.
The Act outlines 'prescribed matters' that must be discussed before valid consent to IVF can be given. For more information contact the Infertility Treatment Authority: ita.org.au.
Counselling also offers you an opportunity to explore issues and assist you to expand your thoughts or perceptions as to what you and your partner expect from any Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) treatments.
At Ballarat IVF we feel that it is our responsibility to thoroughly inform our patients about what is involved in ART procedures, how they would effect them physically, emotionally and financially.
Our patients need to consider these topics on an individual basis, and also in terms of possible effects on relationships with partner, family, and friends.
If you and your partner think that an additional session with a BIVF counsellor would be of benefit, it can be easily arranged for you. Alternatively you can organize further counselling direct, phone Sandra Lorensini on 03 5338 7488.
