Infertility Treatments >> Unexplained Infertility

Unexplained infertility does not necessarily mean undiagnosed infertility. In fact the situation is that all known diagnoses of infertility have been eliminated.

There are causes of infertility that are beyond our level of understanding and at present are not able to be tested for. In these situations all aspects of the treatment are reviewed carefully and adjusted. It may be necessary to repeat certain tests.
  1. SeretecŪ testing kits: these are urine test kits which detects a rise or 'surge' in Luteinising Hormone ( LH) that occurs the day before ovulation. When the test becomes positive, your ovulation date can be predicted. This enables you to plan intercourse to maximise your chances of natural conception . If you require intrauterine insemination the treatment date can be arranged in accordance with the result.
  2. Midluteal phase progesterone: After ovulation levels of progesterone in the blood rise to a peak at one week . Measurement of blood serum progesterone concentrations about one week after ovulation allows us to confirm that this has happened. If levels ofprogesterone are low, it is unlikely that the woman has ovulated. This is the simplest and most accurate method of detecting ovulation.
  3. Pelvic ultrasound: Ultrasound is a useful tool in monitoring the response of your ovaries to natural hormonal changes or to medications which are prescribed.
