Ballarat IVF - Fertility Clinic

Support Services

Choosing to have Fertility treatment is often stressful. Our Counsellors, Nurses, and Fertility Specialists are here to help.

Fertility Counselling

The aim of counselling is to help you to understand and feel comfortable about your fertility treatment. and We believe it is an essential part of our service.

Your fertility counsellor is specially trained and accredited, and is aware of the likely emotional impact on you of both your fertility concerns, and the Fertility treatment process.

Our service is confidential and tailored to your needs. Some couples may need to talk only about their fertility treatment; others may need to seek advice about more personal concerns, such as the reactions of relatives and friends.

Counselling for those considering donor treatment

This counselling is not a test to see whether you should have treatment, but rather a chance to explore issues to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone involved. It can help you clarify your thoughts about issues to do with using donor treatment and resolve any questions you have.

Our counsellor will…

• discuss all the probable implications of having a child using donor treatment

• discuss our policy on disclosure of information

• give donors and recipients information about the relevant details of the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act (2008)

• recommend resources such as books, websites and support groups

• help you complete consent forms (IVF, IUI and donor)

Our service is confidential and tailored to your specific needs. You must attend one session, and we recommend you attend two sessions.

All parties involved in the donor cycle need to give consideration to a range of practical and emotional issues.

Nurse Coordinators

Our nurse coordinators understand all aspects of your treatment plan, and are available to support you each step of the way.

They will:

  • organise and provide the treatment plan suggested by your fertility specialist.
  • provide support during cycle planning, collection and use of medication, organisation of procedures, and will provide information for you about pregnancy test results at the end of a treatment plan.
  • provide phone support for you at any time.
