Factors That Affect Fertility
Fertility Facts
- Smoking reduces fertility in men and women by 50%.
- Excessive consumption of alcohol or other drugs reduces fertility in men and women.
- A previous pregnancy increases the chances of a subsequent pregnancy (unless circumstances have changed.)
- The shorter the period of sub-fertility, the higher the chance of normal conception.
- The longer the period of sub-fertility, the lower the chance of normal conception.
- A woman’s age affects fertility and fertility declines with age.
- Abstaining from intercourse does not build up sperm count.
